How to get maths GCSE quickly

At Ilkley Tuition, we strive to provide the best support for all our students. A common inquiry we get is how to get a maths GCSE quickly. This isn’t as simple as a lot of students think due to limited exam dates for GCSE exams. However there are options and alternatives, which we will talk about in this article.

The GCSE maths exams are sat on pre-set dates in November and May/June, and are exclusively paper based. This does mean that all 3 papers have to be sat in registered exam centres, on 3 separate set dates and times. Everyone in the country has to sit each paper at the same time so there is absolutely no flexibility available. Unlike students sitting GCSEs as part of school, a lot of adult learners need more flexibility so a better option is the functional skills maths level 2. This qualification can be done at home on a date and time that best suits you. Even though the exam is sat at home it is still ofqual regulated so is accepted as a GCSE equivalent grade C by employers and universities. In terms of results, paper based exams take around 6 weeks and online exams only take a number of days. Ultimately this means functional skills are usually the fastest way to get GCSE maths. The other qualification available are GCSE equivalency exams, although it’s important to know that these are not as widely recognised and are usually tailored towards teacher training.

Overall, how to get a maths GCSE quickly depends on multiple factors, such as the period of the year or the speed of results needed. With our students we’ve noticed the quickest option is often the functional skills qualification, due to GCSE exams having rigid dates and longer wait times for results. At Ilkley Tuition we are happy to help with all academic needs, so please contact us today for support or more information.
